Job description

Brief Description

We are seeking a high-energy, adaptable Structural Engineer (IE or PE I) to join our fast‑paced design team. This is a critical backfill role perfect for an engineer who thrives in a dynamic environment, loves variety, and wants a fast‑tracked path to client management. In this role, you won't just be sitting behind a screen running isolated calculations. You will immediately dive into high-volume projects, dealing intimately with existing structures, building modifications, and new additions. If you love seeing your work move quickly from design to reality and want to transition into a client‑facing project manager role within your first 12–24 months, this is the place to do it.

Annual Base Salary

$86,000 - $101,000.

Benefits

Additional benefits include medical plans, dental, vision, employee life insurance, 401(k), Flexible Spending Accounts, paid time off, paid holidays, and tuition reimbursement.

Responsibilities
  • Modify & Adapt: Evaluate existing buildings and engineer structural solutions for additions, renovations, and complex modifications.
  • Manage the Flow: Keep track of multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously, ensuring accuracy and deadlines are met.
  • Leverage Tech: Utilize Excel‑driven tools and internal databases to streamline your workflows, analyses, and documentation.
  • Collaborate & Grow: Start by working closely with internal design teams, with the goal of quickly stepping up to interface directly with architects and clients.
  • Typical daily tasks will include running calculations, marking up drawings, reviewing shop submittals, and answering field and vendor questions.
  • Opportunity to do light traveling to scope existing structures and/or observe new construction when needed.
Qualifications
  • 4–10 years of structural engineering experience.
  • Proven, hands‑on experience with building structures and modern building codes; candidates without dedicated building design experience will not be considered.
  • Strong computer skills, comfort navigating software/databases, and advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • High‑level organizational skills, a proactive attitude (not afraid to ask questions), and the ability to adapt to short project deadlines.
  • Experience with Revit, a background working in high-volume production or retail‑paced firms, and familiarity with structural analysis software are a plus.
Summary

At Wallace Design Collective, our company culture is rooted in our desire to produce quality projects. We strive to be responsive, flexible, and creative. We have a supportive environment where every person is encouraged to continuously learn, grow, and achieve. We understand the importance of respect, compassion, and treating others professionally.
