Job description

We're seeking a Structural Engineer to join the corporate engineering team of a well-established industrial organization.

In this role, you'll provide structural engineering support across multiple operating facilities, working on both the long-term integrity of existing assets and the execution of new capital projects.

The work spans farther than focusing on a single facility, meaning you'll have the opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of industrial infrastructure. Your work will cover structural assessments, rehabilitation strategies, design reviews, capital improvements, construction support, and engineering oversight from concept through commissioning.

You'll partner with project managers, operations teams, engineering consultants, and contractors to solve complex engineering challenges that directly impact plant reliability, operational continuity, safety, and long-term asset performance.

Responsibilities
  • Perform structural inspections and engineering assessments of existing industrial facilities to evaluate condition, identify deficiencies, and prioritize repair or capital improvement needs.
  • Evaluate existing structures and develop engineering recommendations for rehabilitation, replacement, additional investigation, or long-term asset management.
  • Provide technical expertise related to structural performance, code compliance, and engineering best practices.
  • Maintain awareness of evolving building codes, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements affecting industrial facilities.
  • Support capital projects throughout planning, detailed design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Review structural calculations, drawings, specifications, and deliverables prepared by outside engineering firms and consultants.
  • Collaborate with project managers on scope development, constructability reviews, budgeting, scheduling, and technical risk assessments.
  • Coordinate geotechnical investigations, site evaluations, and foundation design activities.
  • Develop technical scopes of work for structural projects involving reinforced concrete, structural steel, foundations, and related systems.
  • Assist in the evaluation and selection of engineering consultants and construction contractors.
  • Provide field engineering support during construction, ensuring work aligns with design intent and engineering standards.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to help deliver projects safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
  • Support permitting and regulatory approval activities associated with facility upgrades and capital projects.
  • Coordinate with local authorities, agencies, and consultants to obtain required permits and approvals.
  • Help ensure projects comply with applicable building codes, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering (structural emphasis), or a related engineering discipline.
  • 3-5 years of structural engineering experience, preferably supporting industrial facilities, manufacturing operations, heavy infrastructure, or large-scale capital projects.
  • Strong understanding of structural analysis, engineering fundamentals, and applicable building codes.
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively with engineers, operations personnel, contractors, and project teams.
  • Willingness to travel periodically to operating facilities for inspections and project support.

Preferred

  • Experience within heavy industrial, cement, aggregates, mining, manufacturing, or similar process industries.
  • Exposure to capital project execution and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Experience using AutoCAD and structural analysis/design software.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, or progress toward licensure.
  • Experience working with geotechnical consultants, permitting agencies, engineering firms, and construction contractors.
Why This Role

This position offers the opportunity to work on a broad range of structural engineering challenges across multiple operating facilities instead of supporting a single plant or repetitive project type.

Engineers in this role gain exposure to existing asset evaluations, rehabilitation strategies, new facility development, and capital project execution while working alongside experienced engineering and operations teams.

You'll have the opportunity to influence engineering decisions from initial assessment through construction, with work that has a direct impact on the safety, reliability, and long-term performance of critical industrial infrastructure.

Additional incentives include bonuses tied to company performance, safety, and individual performance goals.
