Qualifications

• 7-12 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Familiarity with 3D model environments.
• Understanding of industry standards and codes.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze pipe supports and perform calculations.
• Review isometrics and coordinate with engineering disciplines.
• Ensure quality and cost-effective design.
• Check/isometrics using span tables.
• Work closely with layout personnel and pipe stress engineers to deliver a quality and cost-effective design.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and vendors as required.
• Checking designs done by others and potential lead activities.

Skills

Knowledge of AISC structural code

Experience with ASME B31.3 and B31.1

Computer frame analysis (GTStrudl preferred)

Education

AA/AS or Certificate in Engineering/CAD with 7-8 years of experience

Job Summary

Our client is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer (Pipe Support) to design and analyze pipe supports, perform calculations using GTStrudl, and review isometrics in compliance with AISC and ASME B31.3/B31.1 codes. The role involves working in a 3D model environment, coordinating with stress, layout, and other disciplines, and reviewing designs to ensure quality and cost-effective solutions.

Job Description

• Essential duties include locating and designing supports for various piping systems and performing associated calculations.
• Perform modeling and pipe support calculations using GTStrudl.
• Candidate should be familiar with common pipe support hardware, industry standards, and relevant codes such as AISC & ASME B31.3/B31.1.
• Checking/reviewing isometrics using span tables.
• Work closely with layout personnel and pipe stress engineers to deliver a quality and cost-effective design.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and vendors as required.
• Checking designs done by others.
• Prior experience should include working in a 3D model environment & placement of pipe supports.
• May include some lead activities.

Skills Required

• Knowledgeable of AISC structural code, ASME B31.3, B31.1 and other relevant industry piping codes and standards.
• Prior experience using a computer frame analysis program (GTStrudl preferred).

Education / Training / Certifications

• AA/AS or Certificate in Engineering/CAD with 7-8 years of experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
