Job description

Position Summary

You will be responsible for structural steel and concrete designs for various projects. Designs must meet project specifications and applicable design codes. Provide technical sketches for drafting production, checking shop and construction drawings, and coordinating with vendors, outside engineers, and clients when necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop economical and competent designs.
• Design calculations and sketches for shop and construction drawings for development of drawings by our drafting department.
• Assist sales with pre-bid design layout.
• Ability to review geotechnical reports on soil conditions for a specific project site as required.
• Other activities would include, but not limited to, site inspections for silos, chimneys, stacks, buildings, other structures, and writing a report with findings and recommendations.
• Limited travel is required for meetings or for project responsibilities.

Skills and Knowledge

• Must be graduating or have a degree in Civil Engineering (Structural).
• Must possess an EIT certificate or be eligible to obtain one within six months of employment, with demonstrated intent to pursue a Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• Ability to complete layouts and design drawings for presentation to clients.
• Experience in Excel.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience in AutoCAD and/or Solidworks.
