Job summary

Sphinx Staffing is seeking a Senior Design Engineer in Irvine, CA to participate in project design concepts and criteria, and to help determine staffing for engineering efforts.

The role involves analyzing complex design problems, advising on constructability with construction personnel, and monitoring progress to ensure technical accuracy, schedule, and budget adherence. It may lead design activities and guide junior engineers on sizable, multi-discipline projects.

Qualifications

• Typically 5-11 years of related experience.
• Professional registration (PE) required at this level.
• Must be cognizant of the capabilities and limitations of various computer software packages and automated engineering/design equipment to effectively direct their use across diverse engineering assignments.

• Participates in the development of project design concepts and criteria
• Makes recommendations on project staffing
• Analyzes complex design problems requiring development of new or improved techniques or procedures
• Consults with construction personnel on design constructability
• Monitors project progress for technical accuracy and adherence to schedule and budget
• Provides input on proposals and engages with proposal teams and managers
• Represents projects at meetings and conferences
• May plan, organize, and supervise design engineering activities for a project of significant size and complexity (e.g., integration of two or more engineering disciplines), or two or more projects of moderate size and complexity
• May provide direction and supervision to lower-level team members
