Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Structural Engineer to provide technical design across building projects within our Buildings group. You will execute and deliver design work in collaboration with Project Engineers, ensuring quality throughout the process to meet client needs.

Ideal candidates hold an engineering degree, have 3+ years of experience, and are proficient in REVIT and CAD. The role supports a hybrid schedule at our Chicago location, with ongoing mentoring and professional development.

Qualifications

  • Accredited engineering degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years related industry experience.
  • FE or EIT or other professional license preferred.
  • Ability to interface across disciplines and teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Develops structural analysis, design, documentation, and construction administration for building projects.
  • Participates in project meetings, site observations, and delivery activities.
  • Follows quality management process; conducts reviews and approvals before QA/QC.

Job Description

The Structural Engineer provides technical design for a wide range of projects and services in Stantec’s Buildings structural engineering group. The Engineer performs the technical design, execution, and delivery of projects in collaboration with a Project Engineer or Project Principal. Role will execute and ensure quality throughout the design process to meet our clients’ needs and expectations.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Develops and helps advance the structural analysis, design, documentation, and construction administration of building projects. For smaller projects and for certain activities the work may be self-performed.
  • Participates in virtual and in-person project meetings, workshops, in-person site observations, and other similar activities in support of Stantec’s project delivery.
  • Follows Stantec’s quality management process; conducts project reviews and approvals before all QA/QC reviews done by the technical authority.
  • Coordinates well with all disciplines to fully integrate work and client requests into design.
  • Engages with mentors for advancing technical skills, developing project management and people skills, and executing at a high level which meets or exceeds Stantec standards.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Basic knowledge of engineering practices and principles in own discipline and in other disciplines.
  • Able to conceptualize and develop solutions for multifaceted systems and interactions with varied disparate components.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills and experience.
  • Proficient in applicable software (ie, REVIT and CAD among others)
  • Equipped to analyze, problem solve; organized and attentive to detail; flexible and collaborative.
  • Able to independently resolve complex problems within the engineer’s discipline.
Education and Experience
  • Accredited engineering degree or equivalent education and experience required.
  • Minimum 3 years related industry experience.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Engineer in Training (EIT) or other professional license is preferred.

About the Team

Pay Transparency:In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
