Job summary

Brightpath Associates LLC seeks a Marine Structural Engineer to own end-to-end design of hull structures, brackets, mounts, and interfaces from concept through fabrication and sea trials.

You will perform FEA and material selection for FRP composites and metals, coordinate with shipyards and fabricators, and lead prototype fabrication, testing, and design iterations.

A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 3+ years' experience in structural or marine engineering are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of structural/mechanical/marine engineering experience.
• Hands-on with fabricators, suppliers, shipyards, technicians, and cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge of FRP composites and metallic materials; material selection, joints, load paths, and failure modes.
• Experience with CAD, FEA, and first-principles calculations to optimize weight, strength, manufacturability, and cost.
• Lead prototype fabrication, structural testing, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and design iterations.
• Support sea trials and correlate analysis with physical test results.

Work with FRP composites and metallic materials, including material selection, joints, load paths, and failure modes.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated technical experience.
• Use CAD, first-principles calculations, and FEA to optimize structures for weight, strength, manufacturability, and cost.
• Work hands-on with fabricators, suppliers, shipyards, technicians, and cross-functional engineering teams.
• Lead prototype fabrication, structural testing, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and design iterations.
• Support sea trials and correlate analysis with physical test results.
• Requires 3+ years of structural/mechanical/marine engineering experience, hands-on hardware ownership, FEA, CAD, and structural DFM.
• Marine/USV/ASV, composite, aerospace, robotics, motorsports, or other demanding hardware experience is highly relevant.
