Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Structural Engineer in Training in the Greater Sacramento area. You will assist in the design and rehabilitation of hydraulic structures such as dams, spillways, gates, and outlets, while developing design criteria, drawings, and QA/QC reviews.

You will conduct site inspections, prepare safety plans, and support written reports. The role requires an engineering background, EIT certification, and strong attention to detail for a collaborative, employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is required.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate is required.
• Experience with structural design tools such as SAP2000, ETABS, RAM, STAAD, or LS-DYNA is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design of hydraulic structures (dams, spillways, gates, outlet works).
• Assist in development of design drawings, criteria, reports, and QA/QC reviews.
• Prepare pre-inspection planning tasks (site walks, health and safety plans, rigging).
• Perform inspections and structural assessments of structures.
• Assist in written report preparation summarizing inspections and findings.
• Perform other duties as needed.
