Job summary

Stantec Consulting International Ltd. is seeking a Structural EIT to join the Integrated Design team in the North America region.

The role focuses on structural design and analysis for heavy industrial and mining infrastructure under supervision of a Senior Engineer. Ideal candidates have a Civil Engineering degree with a structural focus, 0–4 years of experience, and are registered or on track to register as an engineer-in-training.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on structural engineering.
  • 0 to 4 years of engineering, design, and construction experience in heavy industry.
  • Master’s degree with focus on structural engineering is an asset.
  • Registered as an engineer-in-training or ability to register.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and follow the Stantec Safety Culture and Health and Safety rules for Stantec and clients.
  • Perform structural design and analyses to applicable codes for heavy industrial and mining infrastructure and buildings.
  • Collaborate with Professional Engineers and Designers on fit-for-purpose designs meeting client needs.
  • Interface with other disciplines and project management to execute projects per plan.
  • Travel to project sites to complete inspections and work with a Senior Structural Engineer.

Your Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Structural EIT to join our Integrated Design team.

The successful candidate will have opportunities to work on a variety of projects within the Energy and Resource sector ranging from studies to detail engineering projects in North America and across the world. This role will provide an opportunity to be a part of a diverse team while focusing on technical growth in the Energy and Resources industry.

This is a great opportunity for a motivated individual who wants to challenge their abilities in a dynamic work environment. Work performed will be under the supervision of a Senior Engineer.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • You are expected to understand and work according to the requirements of the Stantec Safety Culture and in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations for Stantec and its clients.

  • Perform structural design and analyses to applicable codes. Typical structures include heavy industrial and mining infrastructure, and industrial buildings.

  • Work with Professional Engineers and Designers on fit-for-purpose designs that meet the client’s needs and requests.

  • Interface with other disciplines and project management to execute projects per the project plan.

  • Travel to project sites to complete site inspections, working closely with a Sr Structural Engineer.

  • Participate in training and professional development activities to advance your technical skills and career growth.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

As the ideal candidate, you have:

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, along with excellent interpersonal abilities and team centered focus.

  • Solid understanding of engineering principles applicable to concrete and steel analysis and design.

  • Enthusiastic, self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently.

  • Experience in Heavy Industrial or the Construction Industry is an asset.

  • Knowledge of STAAD Pro and/or RISA-3D is an asset.

  • Proficiency in Revit or AutoCAD is an asset.

  • Willingness to travel to client sites and other Stantec offices is an asset.

  • Registered as an engineer-in-training or ability to register.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on structural engineering.

  • 0 to 4 years of engineering, design, and construction experience in heavy industry.

  • Master’s degree with focus on structural engineering is an asset.

Pay Transparency:

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

  • Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
