Position Overview:

Atwell is a nationally recognized leader in the renewable energy sector, specializing in utility-scale solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. Our Power & Energy team delivers innovative, high-quality engineering solutions that support the growth of clean energy infrastructure.

We are seeking a Structural Designer to play a key role in the development of solar, BESS, and substation projects. This role offers the opportunity to work on both brownfield and greenfield projects, contributing to designs that shape the future of sustainable energy. Remote work options are available.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed structural designs and drawings for utility-scale solar, BESS, and substation projects using industry-standard drafting software.
  • Support steel and concrete structure design for solar panel racking systems, foundations, equipment supports, and substation components.
  • Assist in creating construction drawings, layouts, and details for renewable energy infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure structural designs align with project requirements.
  • Perform modifications and revisions to existing designs based on project feedback and structural requirements.
  • Utilize AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, or other drafting software to produce high-quality technical drawings.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, building codes, and project specifications.
  • Support coordination efforts between civil, electrical, and structural engineering teams to deliver optimized project designs.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in structural design or drafting for renewable energy, utility, or industrial projects.
  • Proficiency in drafting software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, or similar tools.
  • Experience working with steel and concrete in a design or drafting capacity.
  • Familiarity with utility-scale renewable energy projects, substations, or power infrastructure is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of structural drawings, schematics, and engineering principles.
