Position Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE) has an opening for an aspiring Structural Drafter in our growing Design Engineering Services Group. You will be part of our Infrastructure Design Department, which includes structural, geotechnical, civil, drainage, roadway, rail, and materials disciplines, focusing on the design-build delivery of infrastructure projects.

District Overview

Kiewit’s Design-Build team collaborates with clients throughout all project stages, emphasizing innovative, constructible, and safe designs. Location

This position is based in our Raleigh, NC offices.

Responsibilities

1. Collaborate with engineering teams to develop preliminary and final design plans and details.
2. Detail structural elements, including concrete reinforcement and steel connections.
3. Use AutoCAD, Microstation, Civil 3D, and Revit to produce designs and documents.
4. Participate in design reviews, evaluate concepts, and make recommendations.
5. Adhere to DOT standards and company CAD and quality standards.

Qualifications

1. 3+ years of experience in CAD, modeling, or drafting.
2. Associate degree in CAD, 3D modeling, drafting, or related field preferred.
3. Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation (2D & 3D).
4. Experience with Civil 3D, OpenRoads/OpenBridge, Revit, or Tekla is a plus.
5. Basic knowledge of civil/structural engineering principles and materials.
6. Ability to interpret civil/structural drawings.
7. Strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and conceptual skills.
8. Design or construction experience is advantageous.
