Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Structural Designer EIT in Denver, CO to work independently on small projects and as part of larger teams under Senior Engineers. You will perform structural analysis, design and detailing for steel, concrete, masonry, and timber systems, with guidance as needed.

We welcome candidates early in their career, including recent graduates, and require NCEES EIT. This role emphasizes coordination with architects, other disciplines, and field observations to support on-schedule,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering required.
• NCEES EIT is required.

• Master's degree in structural engineering is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete calculations and drawings for small projects under Senior Engineer's guidance.
• Coordinate with architectural interiors and other engineering disciplines.
• Perform Construction Administration duties including field observations, RFIs, submittal reviews and change orders.
• Use standard software and manufacturer software for calculations.
• Communicate design issues and solutions with the design team and owner clients.
• Understand industry design processes and construction means and methods.
• Assist with development of design standards.

Your Opportunity

The role of a Structural Designer EIT is to work independently on smaller projects, and as a team member of larger projects under the guidance of a Senior Structural Engineer. The Structural Designer EIT will be able to perform structural analysis, design and detailing of steel, concrete, masonry, and timber systems. Additional responsibilities include:

Your Key Responsibilities

• Complete calculations and drawings for small projects under Senior Engineer's guidance
• Works with and coordinates with architectural interiors, and other engineering disciplines
• Perform Construction Administration duties including completing field observations reports, responding to RFIs, submittal reviews, and evaluating contractor change orders
• Perform calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
• Communicate design issues and solutions with the design team and owner clients.
• Understanding of industry standard design processes and understanding of construction means and methods
• Work within project scope, budgets, and design approach to deliver projects to clients on time, on budget, and at a high level of client service
• Assist with development of design standards

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought
• Basic understanding of Revit, and the use of it as a drafting/design tool
• Thorough understanding of structural engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others
• Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building programs and other similar materials
• Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit; Component Design Software such as Enercalc; Finite Element Analysis Software such as RISA and SAP
• Ability to communicate both verbally and in written form concepts and ideas to a diverse audience of architects, engineers, and owner clients effectively.
• Basic knowledge and understanding of structural building codes and requirements
• Experience with modeling software (Autodesk Revit)
• Experience with general business software (Microsoft Office suite)
• Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in civil or Structural Engineering is required, master's degree in Structural Engineering is preferred

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
