Job summary

Allied Engineering and Design is seeking a Structural Designer to support chemical and petrochemical projects. The role focuses on 2D/3D structural design using AutoCAD and Advance Steel, with experience in laser scan data for accurate 3D modeling.

Responsibilities

• Support multiple small to mid-size projects in chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas refining industries.
• Lead 2D/3D structural design activities under supervision of the lead engineer.
• Utilize AutoCAD and Advance Steel to develop foundation, structural steel, and equipment drawings.
• Incorporate Laser Scan data to verify existing site conditions for 3D model creation.
• Serve as lead, senior designer on assigned projects and respond to RFIs.
• Ensure deliverables meet schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
• Collaborate with multi-discipline teams and ensure health and safety compliance.

Position Description: Structural Designer | AED

About the Position

The Structural Designer will support multiple small to mid-size projects in the chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas refining industries, be a proficient AutoCAD Designer, have recent experience with AutoCAD & Advance Steel, and be able to utilize Laser Scan data files to verify existing site conditions for the 3D model creation and utilization. This person will work under the supervision of lead engineer and will be the lead, senior structural/civil designer on the assigned projects.

Technical Knowledge

• Proficient in AutoCAD and Advance Steel
• Laser Scan data utilization skills are a plus (Navisworks)
• Working knowledge of applicable industry codes/practices for design, construction and safety
• Relevant civil design experience that includes site plot plans, erosion and sediment control plans, containment berms, stormwater plans, underground utility piping plans, industrial roadways, loading docks, and truck & railcar unloading/loading racks/spots.
• Working with the engineer, develop key deliverables and drawings including foundation drawings & details, underground pipe details, structural steel building, equipment, piping and cable tray support drawings & details, connection details, etc.
• Ability to respond and interact with Client and Constructor Contractors with RFIs
• A strong drive to deliver against schedule, budget and quality commitments
• Familiarity with health and safety regulations
• Analytical thinker with interpersonal skills
• Attention to detail with excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated collaborative work experience working with multi-discipline teams.

Qualifications

• Experience with structural design that includes structural steel platforms, equipment supports, pile support systems, pipe supports, cable tray supports, pipe & cable tray racks & bridges, industrial buildings, reinforced concrete foundations, piers, pile caps and slabs.
• Petrochemical refinery/chemical/pipeline industry experience preferred
• Ability to contribute scope and workhour estimate information for multiple project proposals
• TWIC Card or ability to obtain
• A strong drive to deliver against schedule, budget and quality commitments
• Ability to work in heavy industrial environments
• Working knowledge of applicable industry codes/practices

• Must have strong verbal and communication skills in the English language
• Team player with a strong drive to deliver against commitments
• Interfaces directly with the client's representative as necessary
