Job summary

Job Description:
General Summary:

The Structural Designer, with supervision from the Manager of Structural Engineering and/or a project engineer, will provide the technical, organizational and communication skills for day‑to‑day support. He/she will be involved in the application of engineering fundamentals to design structural framing systems or components thereof at an entry‑level basis.

Essential Job Functions:
  • With direction and assistance, formulate design and/or analysis of structural framing systems and perform necessary calculations

  • Conduct field measuring and checking at construction site to verify existing conditions

  • With direction and assistance, prepare construction documents and communicate with other disciplines to produce a well‑coordinated set of construction documents

  • With direction and assistance, coordinate with other disciplines for clash detection and load determination.

  • With direction and assistance, review shop‑drawing submittals to assure design intent is met

  • Maintain project files containing project calculations, correspondence, appropriate reference material, and other items

  • Perform related duties as assigned

Employment Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field required

  • E.I.T preferred

Experience
  • 3+ years of related experience in the structural engineering field (Master's degree, research work and internships may count towards this experience)
Skills/Competencies:
  • Analysis: Risa, RAM, ETABS, and SAP2000 preferred

  • Drafting: Bluebeam and Revit modeling preferred
