Job description

A key member of our Civil/Structural team, the Structural Designer possesses strong knowledge of steel, concrete, masonry, and wood design in industrial settings. They ensure our design packages follow client and industry standards. The ideal candidate works well in a team environment, has experience working with multi-discipline teams, and strives to provide quality designs to our clients.

Qualifications

• Associate Civil/Structural Engineering Technology Degree and/or Computer Drafting and Design Degree preferred but not required; High School Diploma required
• Proficient experience with Revit and Navisworks
• BIM experience with generating and maintaining project drawings/models
• Strong communication and decision-making skills
• 5+ years of industry experience preferred

Reporting Structure

The Structural Designer will report to Antonio Verne, who has over 15 years of experience in structural engineering, teaching, and professional leadership. Antonio holds degrees from Penn State University and has served in various roles within the Structural Engineers association of Ohio. He is passionate about continuous improvement, lean design, and innovative engineering practices.

Responsibilities and Scope

• Develop, implement, and maintain BIM workflows and standards in Revit, coordinating with other departments.
• Support project start-up workflows, ensuring effective delivery of quality documents.
• Oversee BIM/Revit software use, analyze and resolve user issues.
• Provide training, support, and leadership for BIM users.
• Create content libraries, templates, and conduct model audits to ensure standards are met.
• Manage supporting software and plug-ins for BIM.
• Research and stay updated on best practices and new technologies in Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM.
• Utilize Dynamo and Python for automation tasks.
• Develop and enforce BIM documentation and workflow standards.
• Train and supervise BIM activities to maintain standards.
• Ensure quality and technical accuracy of project deliverables.
• Perform or oversee calculations and design efforts for drawings.
• Coordinate discipline's design within models and drawings.
