Job summary

LDIS LLC, a Tetra Tech Company, is seeking a Civil/Structural Designer III to create 3D CAD models and construction drawings for client projects. You will work from engineer sketches and follow industry standards for readability and accuracy.

The role requires AutoCAD proficiency, experience with Autodesk Civil 3D a plus, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks with deadlines. This position offers a hybrid in-office schedule in Arvada, CO.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; post-secondary training preferred.
  • 4–10 years’ experience in design, drafting and modeling.
  • Oil and gas experience including refineries and gas processing.
  • Proficient in engineering design and drafting software.
  • Civil design experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus.

  • Generates 3D foundation and structural steel models with minimal supervision.
  • Working with equipment vendor drawings create workable design.
  • Create overall and partial foundation location plans with Northing/Easting coordinates.
  • Create concrete foundation plans and sections depicting reinforcing design based on sketches prepared by engineer following example drawings.
  • Create structural steel design plans and sections depicting reinforcing design based on sketches prepared by engineer following example drawings.
  • Prepare clear and concise revisions to previously issued construction drawings.
  • Coordinate efficient design/resolve conflicts with other disciplines.
  • Some knowledge of site grading and erosion & sediment control drawings.
  • Tracks schedule and budget during the duration of a project and anticipates manpower overage or underage.
  • Tracks project scope changes and initiates change orders to management.

Job description

In addition to conventional Oil & Gas facility solutions and designs, our projects include Hydrogen Electrolysis, Ammonia Production Facilities, Renewable Natural Gas Processing, Emissions Reduction Studies, Carbon Capture and Sequestration, wastewater, pharmaceuticals, and much more.

Structural designers perform complex structural designs. They are responsible for drafting computer models based on project needs and creating drawings that are used for final construction plans. Additionally, these designers must follow strict safety standards on their preliminary sketches, adequately take construction materials into account for designs, and meet deadlines.

They prepare structural plans and implement feedback from structural engineers. Previous experience in AutoCAD structural modeling and drawing production is required. CADWorx structure experience a plus. Structural designers must be proficient with AutoCAD, pay strong attention to detail, and be highly organized. Structural designers should have advanced knowledge of industrial methodologies as well.

Your Role

The primary role of a Civil/Structural Designer III is to create 3D CAD models and construction drawings for our client’s projects. Models and drawing details will be created in accordance with sketches prepared by the engineer. Drawings will be created using industry recognized standards for line weight, dimensioning, and views/sections necessary to convey the design. Attention to detail, accuracy, drawing ease of readability are qualities expected from a Civil/Structural Designer.

Qualifications
  • Required: High school diploma and post-secondary training preferred.
  • Minimum 4-10 years’ experience in design, drafting and modeling.
  • Demonstrated capability in successfully completing projects.
  • Multiple years’ experience in design, drafting and modeling.
  • Oil and Gas experience including refineries and gas processing.
  • Proficient in current engineering design and drafting software packages.
  • Operational knowledge of spreadsheet and database programs.
  • Civil design experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D not required but a plus.
Target Salary Range

$42.00 to $50.00/hr Please note that Tetra Tech considers numerous factors in determining pay, including but not limited to education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.

Physical Requirements
  • Constantly required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Constantly use hands to keyboard or type, handle materials, or manipulate objects.
  • Light work that includes lifting and/or moving up to 20 pounds and, occasionally, up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequently moving about to accomplish tasks.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this classification include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing abilities required by this classification includes those which permit the employee to discern verbal instructions and communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
  • Requires composure and ability to prioritize and manage several urgent tasks and requests simultaneously with a prominent level of competence and accuracy.
Work Environment / Environmental Factors

Environmental factors mostly consist of work being conducted in an indoor office environment, but are not limited to extreme temperatures (e.g., cold, heat), fumes, variable weather conditions, outdoor work, and noise due to some travel & work on worksites.
