Job summary

LDIS LLC, a Tetra Tech Company, seeks a Piping Designer II to support the layout, construction, and operation of oil and gas facilities. This role typically requires 2–6 years of continuous drafting and design experience in the industry and the ability to work with supervision as needed.

You will generate 3D piping models, draft P&IDs from redlines, and produce project deliverables such as isometrics, piping plans, and MTOs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2–6 years experience in design, drafting and modeling in oil and gas.
  • Proficient in current engineering design and drafting software.
  • Knowledge of ASTM and ASME codes is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Generates 3D piping and equipment models under direct supervision.
  • Occasionally provides verbal input during model reviews.
  • Drafts P&IDs from a set of redlines using company/client drafting guidelines.
  • Generates project deliverables (isometrics, piping plans, plot plans, MTOs) and reviews prior to checking.
  • Has a basic understanding of pipe materials and specifications per ASTM/ASME.
  • Understands process flow through facilities (well pads, compressor stations, dehy units, gas processing, refineries).

Your Role:

This position prepares technical data used in the layout, construction, and operation of oil and gas field, refineries, gas compressor stations, chemical plants, and process piping systems. A Piping Designer II generally have 2-6 years of continuous drafting and design experience in the industry. Designers work independently on projects and solicit help as needed from their supervisor.

Job Responsibilities:

Target Salary Range

$34.00 to $37.00/hr Please note that Tetra Tech considers numerous factors in determining pay, including but not limited to education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business

Physical Requirements:
  • Constantly required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Constantly use hands to keyboard or type, handle materials, or manipulate objects.
  • Light work that includes lifting and/or moving up to 20 pounds and, occasionally, up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequently moving about to accomplish tasks.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this classification include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing abilities required by this classification includes those which permit the employee to discern verbal instructions and communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
  • Requires composure and ability to prioritize and manage several urgent tasks and requests simultaneously with a prominent level of competence and accuracy.
Work Environment / Environmental Factors:

Environmental factors mostly consist of work being conducted in an indoor office environment, but are not limited to extreme temperatures (e.g., cold, heat), fumes, variable weather conditions, outdoor work, and noise due to some travel & work on worksites.
