Work Location: Greenville, SC (In office, Onsite)

Job Title: Senior Structural Design Engineer

Responsibilities:

The purpose of this position is to provide essential administrative processes, technical knowledge, and leadership. This role oversees a specific area and acts as a representative of the engineering discipline, ensuring technical accuracy in project execution across all phases. It is a lead position on assigned projects, performing engineering assignments of advanced complexity.

Under the general supervision of the Discipline Lead Engineer, serve as an Area Lead providing guidance and supervision to other engineers and designers.

Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding technical solutions to complex problems in accordance with project requirements.

Develop and review specifications and design criteria.

Perform and check engineering analyses and calculations; specify materials, equipment, and systems; and solve technical problems of advanced complexity.

Coordinate technical issues with other disciplines, project management, vendors, and clients.

Execute work in compliance with the Project Quality Plan and procedures.

Work according to the approved project scope, cost, and schedule baselines.

Develop and review estimates, schedules, and progress reports, including effort-hour estimating and staff forecasting.

Establish, control, and report on material key quantities; provide analysis and forecasts.

Provide technical support for equipment and material procurement and subcontracting, including scopes of work, technical bid evaluations, and review of vendor submittals.

Support activities related to construction administration, including responses to RFIs and field changes.

Other duties as assigned.

Basic Job Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering and minimum ten (10) years of relevant experience
  • Professional Engineer license
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local codes and standards
  • Effective communication skills with diverse audiences
  • Technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
  • Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards
  • Ability to perform work in compliance with relevant codes, statutes, and guidelines

Additional skills include attention to detail, proficiency in common software tools, experience with EPC services on large industrial projects, and expertise with engineering analysis and CAD tools.

Discipline Specific Job Requirements:

  • Advanced knowledge of structural calculations for foundations, concrete, and steel structures
  • Proficiency in structural design software such as STAAD, STAADPro, and RISA3D
  • Advanced knowledge of Mathcad
  • Experience analyzing complex structures, wind, seismic, and dynamic loading
  • Computer modeling and analysis skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of material costs and availability
  • Experience designing systems for nuclear facilities under ASME NQA-1
  • Experience managing large projects and EPC services in relevant industries
  • Proficiency with project setup, scheduling, and reporting tools
  • Practical field experience
