Qualifications

The Opportunity


Ulteig is seeking talented and motivated candidates for a Structural Design Engineer - Renewables role supporting utility-scale solar photovoltaic and battery storage projects. The selected candidate will engage with Ulteig's civil, structural, and electrical design teams and our clients to provide innovative, forward thinking design solutions to facilitate the development, design, and construction of solar & storage projects.



What You'll Do



  • Assisting in the preparation of structural designs and drawings for solar foundations and support structures.

  • Conducts project specification research to determine applicable building codes and ensuring specific project requirements are addressed in the design.

  • Prepares calculations and drawings according to project specifications and applying department and relevant standards.

  • Coordinates with internal multi-disciplinary teams to address structural-related issues or concerns.

  • Provides drafting support using AutoCAD for structural design plans.

  • Assists with deep foundation design, inspection, pile design, foundation design, and construction quality control.

  • Apply geotechnical and corrosion recommendations in designs.

  • Participates in project meetings and collaborating with team members to ensure effective communication and project progress.

  • Supports the Project Discipline Lead in meeting essential deadlines and fostering effective collaboration among project team members and various design disciplines.

  • Reports directly to the Engineering Supervisor with project accountability to Discipline Leads and Project Managers, providing regular updates on project status.



What We Expect from You



  • B.S. in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent, is required.

  • Civil Engineer-In-Training (FE) registration required.

  • Minimum of 2-4+ years of engineering experience performing structural design is required. Specific experience performing structural foundation design on utility scale solar projects in a fast-paced consulting environment is preferred. Knowledge of renewable energy systems is preferred.

  • Knowledge of codes including ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360/341, IBC and more.

  • Knowledge of software tools including but not limited to L-PILE, RISA 3D/2D, RISA Foundation, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Global Mapper, Bluebeam and more.

  • Knowledge of PV systems design or transmission line structural design is a plus.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Efficient time management - handle multiple projects simultaneously and with minimal supervision including prioritizing, organizing, and planning effectively to meet all deadlines.

  • Majority of the work will be in the office, with some general travel for design construction support, visiting clients, and representing Ulteig at conferences and trade shows as required.

  • Less than 10% travel is expected.

  • Must have authorization to work permanently in the United States.

Additional Opportunity Details:
Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $76,800 - $103,900
* Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your job-specific skills, education, training, job location, number of years of experience related to this role, and comparison to other employees already in this role
