Job summary

Revamp Engineering, Inc. seeks an experienced Structural Design Engineer to lead high-impact design work for utility-scale renewable energy and substation projects. You will mentor others, elevate standards, and ensure buildable, code-compliant solutions from concept through IFC deliverables.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering required.
  • 5+ years' experience in a structural engineering design role.
  • Knowledge of structural design software: RISA 2D/3D/Foundation, Enercalc, L-PILE or similar.
  • Familiarity with ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360/341, IBC, NDS and related codes.
  • Ability to read site studies, geotechnical reports, and civil/structural drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with both creative and analytical thinking.

Responsibilities

  • Create structural engineering plans, details, and calculations for renewable energy and substation projects.
  • Design foundations for project equipment meeting jurisdictional requirements.
  • Apply knowledge of renewable energy layouts, BOS components, and modules.
  • Lead project design efforts and prepare documentation.

Job description

As a Structural Design Engineer, you’ll lead high-impact structural design work for utility-scale renewable energy and substation projects, turning complex requirements into buildable, code-compliant solutions.

You’ll bring seasoned engineering judgment, take ownership from concept through IFC deliverables, and collaborate with a mission-driven team that values quality, curiosity, and continuous improvement. This role is built for an experienced engineer ready to mentor others, elevate standards, and make a meaningful difference in the energy transition.

The base salary for this role for candidates based in the United States is $110-137k USD. The base salary range for this role for candidates based in Canada is $150k-190k CAD.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
ENGINEERING & TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Create structural engineering plans, details, and calculations for renewable energy and substation projects.
  • Design concrete or steel foundations for project equipment to meet jurisdictional requirements at local, State and Federal levels for various geotechnical parameters and soil types.
  • Acquire and apply advanced knowledge of renewable energy system layouts and components such as modules, racking, inverters, and Balance of Systems (BOS).
  • Design a project, system, component, or process, and prepare project documentation.
  • Formulate and solve problems.
  • Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard procedures and criteria.
  • Develop a work plan for project tasks and discipline team members.
  • Lead multiple projects and may act as Engineer of Record.
QUALITY & COLLABORATION
  • Ensure compliance with company, industry, trade, and jurisdictional safety standards, practices, and codes.
  • Support client interaction for multiple projects in a single portfolio.
  • Assign tasks to and direct discipline team members to complete assignments.
  • Provide mentoring for staff engineers.
  • Assist with proposals to provide professional services.
  • Attend project meetings and present specific aspects of engineering assignments with high proficiency and confidence.
  • Receive guidance when necessary on unconventional or complex problems, and a review of completed work for application of sound professional judgment.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform essential duties, including meeting deliverables and deadlines.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned or directed.
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
REQUIRED
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering.
  • 5+ years' experience in a structural engineering design role.
  • In-depth knowledge of software tools including RISA 2D/3D/Foundation, Enercalc, L-PILE, or similar.
  • Strong familiarity with ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360/341, IBC, NDS, and other relevant codes and standards.
  • Ability to read and understand site studies, geotechnical reports, and civil, structural, and architectural drawings.
  • Ability to identify and solve complex problems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be both creative and analytical.
  • Detail-oriented and accurate.
PREFERRED
  • Professional Engineering (PE) licensure or EIT Certificate is strongly preferred.
  • 2+ years' experience with utility or commercial solar PV systems, substations, or energy storage system design is strongly preferred.
