IMEG is growing, and we'd love to have you join our team! We are currently seeking a Structural Design Engineer in our Pasadena, CA office. A Structural Design Engineer will work closely with experienced engineers and consultants to provide engineering solutions and advice to clients to ensure positive outcomes. Primary responsibilities include assisting in engineering analysis, design, and document development for structural systems. This position requires working within the project's budget and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.

Some key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the design and analysis of structural systems using various building materials, engineering software, and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards;
  • Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively; build and maintain client relationships through professional communication;
  • Support project execution as part of a team; assist in project planning and scheduling to meet deadlines and objectives;
  • Document design decisions and client instructions; monitor project design progress;
  • Analyze low to medium complexity engineering tasks and propose innovative solutions; collaborate with senior engineers to develop practical solutions;
  • Participate in quality control processes to ensure designs meet standards and client requirements;
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices; contribute to research and development;
  • Prioritize safety; act ethically and professionally; collaborate with multidisciplinary teams;
  • Engage in full project lifecycle from conception to construction, including developing designs, construction documents, and participating in construction administration.

Key skills and abilities needed:

  • Knowledge of design techniques, standards including steel, concrete, wood, masonry, and structural concepts;
  • Strong technical and analytical skills, including principles of structural mechanics and materials;
  • Proficiency with industry-standard engineering software and tools;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work collaboratively and demonstrate team-building skills;
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills;
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt;
  • Basic knowledge of BIM software;
  • Effective oral and written communication skills;
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite;
  • Ability to travel up to 5%, including occasional overnight stays.

Education and experience requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering or equivalent;
  • Master's Degree (MS) in Structural Engineering preferred;
  • Prior internship experience preferred;
  • Engineering in Training (EIT) License preferred.

Salary Range $72,000.00 - 75,000.00. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
