Job summary

Thorson Baker + Associates, Inc. in Dublin, OH is seeking a Civil (Structural) Engineer to contribute to the structural design of foundations, floors, roofs and lateral systems for institutional and commercial buildings.

You will prepare calculations and construction documents, coordinate with architects and contractors, and travel nationally for site visits and meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil (Structural) Engineering.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Efficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Familiar with AutoCAD and Revit.
• FE/EIT a plus.
• Capable of engaging in meetings with clients, owners, contractors, etc.
• Possess a good work ethic and be efficient in job duties.
• Willing to work extra hours above 40 hours per week when necessary to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Structural design of foundations, floors, roof, and lateral resistance system for various building types in retail and commercial buildings.
• Prepare calculations and well-coordinated construction documents that are cost effective, efficient and constructible.
• Coordinate with architects, owners, other engineering disciplines, vendors, building officials, and other consultants through design phases.
• Meet client schedules and internal design and construction administration time budgets.
• Office construction administration includes review of shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and coordinate with contractors and design team through construction phase.
• Travel nationally for pre-design site visits, design meetings, construction phase site observations, and prepare detailed technical narrative reports.

Participate as a team member in the technical development of schematic, design development, construction documents, specifications and construction administration for institutional and commercial building projects.

Job Duties:

Thorson Baker + Associates offers a flexible starting time:

8 hours Mon-Friday

8.5 hours Mon-Thursday with 6-hour Fridays

9 hours Mon-Thursday with 4-hour Fridays
