Job summary

Addison Group is seeking a hands-on Structural Designer/Design Checker to create, modify, and check structural steel fabrication drawings for emissions reduction equipment. You will work in SolidWorks, thoroughly review your work and coordinate with engineers and fabrication personnel to prevent issues in the shop.

This role supports fabrication teams by resolving design questions, maintaining accurate drawings, and applying revision control.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and detailing structural steel fabrication and industrial equipment.
• Strong SolidWorks or other 3D software proficiency; Inventor, etc.
• Ability to read and interpret structural, mechanical drawings.
• Strong understanding of steel fabrication, welding, tolerances, materials.
• Experience performing drawing/design checks with attention to detail.
• Ability to identify design issues from fabrication/constructability perspective.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Create, modify, detail, and check structural steel fabrication drawings.
• Review drawings for accuracy, weld details, tolerances, materials.
• Perform detailed design/drafting checks before drawings are released for fabrication.
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, P&IDs, structural requirements, and customer documentation.
• Work closely with engineers, project managers, fabricators, and manufacturing personnel to resolve design issues.
• Identify discrepancies, conflicts, missing information, and communicate corrections to the team.
• Develop and maintain accurate 2D CAD drawings, layouts, details, and fabrication documentation.
• Incorporate engineering revisions and customer changes into drawings while maintaining revision control.
• Support the development of structural components, platforms, frames, supports, skids, ductwork-related structures.
• Assist with drawing standards, templates, checking procedures, and continuous improvement of the design/drafting process.
• Help manage drawing workload and priorities to meet project schedules and fabrication deadlines.
