Role Overview
The Structural Engineering Coordinator/EIT works under the guidance of a Project Engineer or Project Manager, performing detailed structural design and analysis for facilities across multiple sectors (Technology, Corporate/Commercial, Education, Healthcare, Water/Wastewater, Municipal, Industrial, Power, Federal). The role involves creating construction documents, coordinating with client and consulting teams, and applying finite element analysis and design software.
Responsibilities
- Perform detailed structural design, analysis, calculations, and drafting construction documents under a Professional Engineer.
- Write and edit structural specifications and reports.
- Verify code compliance, conduct quality checks, and support project schedules and budget.
- Work independently on small projects; assist senior engineers on larger projects.
- Execute small tasks in AutoCAD and/or Revit.
- Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and provide engineering support during construction.
- Use finite element analysis software (RAM, ETABS, SAP2000) and hand calculations.
- Participate in project site visits with project managers and other disciplines.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate.
- If not yet EIT, title will be “Coordinator” with expectation to obtain EIT for career progression.
- Master of Science in Structural Engineering or related field, GPA 3.5 or higher.
- Prior structural design experience (internship or full‑time).
- Knowledge of structural engineering software.
- Willingness to innovate and try new approaches.
- Familiarity with CADD tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, or MicroStation.
- Ability to travel.
- Understanding of finite element method fundamentals.
- Strong teamwork, analytical, and organizational skills to manage multiple projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to accuracy, detail, self‑directed learning, meeting deadlines, and multitasking.
- Full‑time work in assigned office.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RISA, STAAD, SAP, Tedds, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar.
