Job Responsibilities
- Facilitate civil and structural installations (foundations, steel erection, etc.) and commissioning activities.
- Provide subject matter expert assistance in review of product and equipment submittals, shop drawings, engineering design drawings, specifications, and contractor-generated RFIs.
- Maintain extensive knowledge of safety procedures, safe work practices, and OSHA requirements for civil and structural installations, including but not limited to Lock-Out, Electrical Safe Work Practices, Control of Hazardous Energy, and arc flash safety.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of prevailing building codes and industry standards (including IBC, NEC, NESC, NFPA, ASME, AMCA, ARI, AWS, ASHRAE, FM).
- Coordinate with building construction contractors and equipment vendors for factory testing, delivery, installation, commissioning, and handover to end users.
- Manage weekend and plant shutdown work coordination with contractors, plant facilities groups, and manufacturing shops.
- Conduct ongoing work progress inspections.
- Support construction administration activities such as schedule coordination, quality assurance, weekly meetings, and utility outages.
- Inspect civil and structural building systems for compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and applicable codes.
- Oversee civil and structural contractors to ensure adherence to project delivery methods, schedule milestones, and coordination with other groups.
- Prepare field engineering status reports on work progress and schedules for Project Managers.
- Contribute to the improvement of project technical specifications and standards.
- Communicate technical information effectively in written and verbal formats.
- Manage multiple tasks, prioritize project commitments, and meet deadlines and milestones.
Experience and Qualifications
- 5-10 years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; multi-discipline backgrounds (civil, electrical, etc.) are acceptable.
- At least 2 years of construction management experience.
- Experience in developing design criteria for civil and structural systems.
- Automotive industry experience, especially with engine, transmission, or vehicle facilities, or similar industrial manufacturing.
- Over 5 years in civil and/or structural design fields.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project).
Ideal Candidate
- Experience with software such as Bluebeam, AutoCAD, AutoDesk Build.
- Background across multiple disciplines (civil, electrical, etc.).
The target compensation range for this role is $60.00 to $66.67 per hour, based on education, experience, certifications, and location.
