Huitt-Zollars Inc. has an opportunity for a Structural (Bridge) Graduate Engineer-in-Training (EIT) in Dallas, Texas. This full-time position involves working within the transportation group to support various disciplines, gain professional knowledge, and collaborate with experienced engineers.

The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, recent graduate to 4 years of experience, and proficiency in engineering software. The position includes health insurance, paid vacations, and a state-of-the-art office facility.

Structural (Bridge) Graduate EIT (2)

Huitt-Zollars' Dallas office has a great opportunity for a Structural (Bridge) Graduate Engineer-in-Training (EIT). This full‑time structural position is within our transportation group and also provides the opportunity to support other disciplines on an as‑needed basis. HZ's portfolio includes major bridge and transportation structures across the country, including specialty analysis and signature bridges. The portfolio includes prestressed, post‑tensioned, and conventionally reinforced concrete structures as well as steel structures. The Graduate EIT will work directly with a Professional Engineer to develop the professional technical expertise and knowledge necessary to fulfill the experience requirement for licensure as a Professional Engineer.

Duties

• Acquire an understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities
• Apply prescribed methods and procedures in accordance with established criteria to perform tasks assigned by Professional Engineers
• Prepare calculations in accordance with applicable design codes by following standard engineering practices and procedures within established guidelines
• Prepare design plans and develop quantity calculations
• Assist in preparation of project reports and/or design specifications
• Participate in design reviews to evaluate design concepts
• Attend project meetings and assist with presentations
• Interact and collaborate with others on project assignments
• Implement Huitt‑Zollars' Quality Management Plans for project deliverables

Key Responsibilities

• Understand, follow, and enforce Huitt‑Zollars' business process
• Productively collaborate with others and lead or encourage teams to achieve success and camaraderie among each other
• Understand and follow HZ QMS and Quality initiatives; ensure quality control measures are being adhered to on projects and daily operations
• Understand duties and responsibilities, possess necessary job knowledge and technical skills, and maintain job knowledge current
• Assist with appropriate administrative and project support tasks supporting the needs of the project team and office
• Complete assignments on‑time, within budget, and with the highest level of quality
• Routinely propose and produce more effective ways to accomplish assignments

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science (BSCE)
• Recent graduate to 4 years of experience
• Experience with relevant technology/software such as MicroStation, OpenBridge, RISA, STADD
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering (MSCE) preferred
• Successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam preferred
• Experience in design and plan preparation of Transportation Structures preferred

This position will office out of our Dallas, TX location in a 'Class A' office space including a state‑of‑the‑art gym (no cost), covered parking, food court, and more.

Physical Requirements
