Structural Bridge Engineering Manager

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Structural Bridge Engineering Manager to join our dynamic engineering team. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience overseeing structural design projects, ensure compliance with industry standards, and lead a team of engineers to deliver innovative and efficient structural solutions. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership abilities, and excellent communication skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
Create, build, and grow a bridge engineering department.
- Responsible for the structural design of bridges and ancillary transportation structures for TxDot and municipal clients.
- Coordinate various project activities with project team including geotechnical investigation, hydrology and hydraulics, environment reports and permitting, survey and roadway design.
- Provide professional and technical support to multiple Westwood projects.
- Provided day-to-day support and input to internal and external project managers.
- Communicate project details with clients, agencies and the public.
- Mentor, train and/or supervise the work of less experienced engineers and/or technical support personnel.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to develop integrated design solutions.
- Review and approve engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes and standards.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to assess project progress and ensure adherence to design specifications.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively to meet client expectations.
- Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and technologies to incorporate innovative practices into designs.
- Prepare and present technical reports and proposals to clients and stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Bridge inspection experience a plus.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiar with TxDOT Bridge Manual and Facilities Development Manual.
- Familiar with AASHTO LRFD design code.
- Working knowledge of Microstation or AutoCAD.
- Proficient with bridge engineering software, such as Leap Bridge, Eriksson or similar
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail and check the quality of own and others' work.
- Ability to use sound engineering judgment.
- Ability to manage time and workload effectively, which includes planning, organizing and prioritizing tasks.
- Travel may be needed on an occasional basis.
Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on Bridge and ancillary transportation structures for TxDot and municipal clients.
