ABOUT THE POSITION

Structural Bridge Engineer | Providence, RI | Hybrid

Join VHB's dynamic Rhode Island Structural Team as a Structural Bridge Engineer and be a part of our expanding and innovative group! This is an exciting opportunity to work on diverse and impactful bridge projects across Rhode Island and New England. Utilize state-of-the-art tools and technologies to design and develop digital models of bridges, contributing to transformative infrastructure solutions. Responsibilities

    Perform structural modeling and design of highway, pedestrian and railroad bridges and other structures
  • Create plans and digital models of the bridges and highway bridge approaches
  • Perform bridge inspections
  • Develop construction cost estimates
  • Prepare contract documents
  • Review fabrication drawings and provide construction plan reviews

Skills and Attributes

  • Strong technical skills in bridge/structural design
  • Experience developing design reports, plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Self-motivated and commitment to learning
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Training and mentoring skills
  • Effective and comfortable in a highly collaborative team environment
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, and varied structural design software experience a strong plus

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field of study (structural emphasis preferred)
  • 5-8 years of professional structural/transportation/bridge design experience required (master's degree may substitute for 1 year of experience)
  • PE license required or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Successful completion of NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges training a plus
  • Familiarity with structural modeling/engineering software is a plus

The base salary range for this position is $97,000.00-$119,000.00. This offer is determined based on several job-related factors including internal comparators, skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities, and geographic location.
