Job summary

H&H in Bedford, NH is seeking a Structural/Bridge Engineer to join our growing design team. You will assist in the design of simple and complex fixed and movable bridges, and participate in bridge inspections as our office expands.

With a history of award-winning local bridges, you will work on projects from planning through construction, using MicroStation and FEM tools, collaborating with a skilled design team across the region.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering is required.
• PE license preferred, or the ability to obtain within two years.
• 3+ years of structural engineering experience with a focus on bridge design is preferred.
• Experience with conceptual, preliminary, and final design for bridge projects per codes.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a design team.
• Detail-oriented and good written/verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural design and analysis for bridge rehabilitation and replacement projects under supervision.
• Prepare detailed plans and construction documents for assigned tasks.
• Perform engineering calculations to support plans and documents.
• Develop contract specifications, bid documents, and technical reports.
• Occasional field site visits and bridge inspections.

We are currently growing our design services and client base to support client and project needs in the Structural/Transportation focus areas. The successful candidate will assist in the design of simple and complex fixed bridges, movable bridges and perform bridge inspections with a growing office. Responsibilities

• Perform structural design and analysis tasks for projects including bridge rehabilitation and replacement projects under the oversight of a senior engineer
• Prepare detailed plans and construction documents for the assigned tasks
• Perform engineering calculations pertaining to and in support of the detailed plans and construction documents developed
• Develop contract specifications and contract bid documents, and technical report writing
• Occasional field site visits and bridge inspections

Requirements

• BS in Civil Engineering
• PE License preferred, or ability to obtain within two years
• A minimum of three years of Structural Engineering experience with a focus on bridge design (preferred)
• Experience in conceptual, preliminary, and final design and plan production of bridge projects following Federal and State codes
• Ability to work effectively as part of a design team
• Experience with current FEM modeling software (preferred)
• Must be detail and goal-oriented, a self-starter and proficient in both verbal and written communications
• Experience with MicroStation (preferred)
