Primary Objectives:

The Assistant Project Manager (APM) position is expected to gain exposure and training in executing project management responsibilities. The APM has demonstrated the ability to produce and assemble a complete project and has experience with multiple types of projects. The APM has shown leadership ability in effectively delegating tasks, assigning duties, monitoring progress, and assuming responsibility for their accuracy and completeness of their work alongside Design and Project Engineers.

Education/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with Structural Focus or related engineering degree.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in structural design.
  • Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam.
  • Sound knowledge of structural engineering fundamentals.
  • Displays Leadership qualities:

    • Proven success as a Project Engineer.
    • Takes initiative in leading design tasks.
    • Ability to delegate tasks to others.
    • Ability to design all components of a project.

    • Strong verbal communications and technical writing skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate with internal and external project team members, various stakeholders including clients, jurisdictional and utility authorities, and members of the community.
  • Ability to prepare calculations and reports that clearly express project requirements.
  • Proficient with structural design software and has the ability to verify others work within the appropriate design software.
  • Experience and success preparing design calculations and design documents (plans and specifications).
  • Proficient using spreadsheets, word processing, and standard office software.
  • Excellent planning and organization skills required for our fast-paced environment.
  • Must be highly motivated, proactive, a critical thinker, and willing to take on new opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Sound knowledge of structural engineering fundamentals.
  • Able to use Revit to navigate a model and review and coordinate with other disciplines.
  • Performs work involving the application of all conventional aspects of structural engineering to the functional area of the assignment.
  • Excellent verbal communications and technical writing skills.
  • Conceptualizes the initial engineering design approach for major phases of projects.
  • Resolves a variety of complex problems.
  • Ability to prepare a complete set of plans and manage and supervise the design and ongoing progress of a project.
  • Prepare schedules; conducts or coordinates civil/structural engineering work.
  • Review plans, prepares/reviews technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates.
  • Participates in contract bidding and administration.
  • Maintains close contact with the client throughout development of the project design and drawings.
  • Work alongside functional departments to fulfill corporate needs.
  • May be asked to travel to out of town assignments.
