Job summary

Penn State University seeks an Assistant Professor (Non-Tenure Line) in Stroke Recovery and Neurorehabilitation Research within the Department of Neurology at Penn State College of Medicine. The appointee will lead clinical research programs focused on post-stroke motor recovery, design trials, and mentor trainees.

The position emphasizes grant development, independent investigation, and dissemination of results in peer‑reviewed journals through collaborations across Neurology, Physical Medicine

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant scientific or clinical discipline.
• Evidence of clinical research experience and a track record of publications.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and lead clinical research studies and clinical trials focused on post-stroke motor recovery and upper extremity rehabilitation.
• Serve as Principal Investigator (PI) or co-PI on investigator-initiated and externally funded research projects.
• Develop and submit competitive extramural grant applications to federal agencies, foundations, and other funding organizations.
• Lead and contribute to scholarly activities, including manuscript preparation and publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
• Oversee study implementation, including protocol development, regulatory submissions, participant recruitment, and clinical trial operations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Neurology, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Engineering, and related disciplines to advance translational neuroscience research.
• Mentor trainees, research staff, and junior investigators engaged in clinical and translational research.
• Present research findings at regional, national, and international scientific meetings.
• Contribute to the academic mission of Penn State College of Medicine through research, education, and service activities.
