Job Description
The Department of Neurology at the Sidney Kimmel School of Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University is seeking applications from fellowship-trained Stroke/Vascular Neurologists at the Associate Professor or Professor level interested in joining our growing program at Jefferson University Hospital - Center City Campus as the Stroke Division Director.
The Department of Neurology at Jefferson, one of the oldest in the country, currently has over 70 full-time faculty members. The Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience (JHN), located in downtown Philadelphia, provides facilities for neurology, neurosurgery, neuroradiology, and neurological research.
The Thomas Jefferson University Stroke program is a Joint Commission accredited Comprehensive Stroke Center that has achieved Gold Plus and Target Stroke Honor Roll Elite status. It handles approximately 1000 cerebrovascular-related admissions annually. The outpatient stroke clinic offers evidence-based risk factor modification and post-stroke care, with active clinical trials through STROKENET and other research opportunities.
The successful candidate will join a team of Vascular Neurologists managing inpatient stroke care, neurology consults, and outpatient clinics. Time allocation between inpatient and outpatient care will depend on the applicant's career interests. The team includes vascular neurologists, residents, fellows, neurocritical care providers, neurosurgeons, and advanced practice nurses.
The Division Director will develop a robust clinical practice, lead research efforts, and contribute to publications. The candidate should have extensive grant-writing and research experience with a strong national reputation.
They should also be committed to training future stroke fellows and neurology residents. Jefferson offers extensive teaching opportunities and community outreach programs.
The Jefferson Stroke Program is affiliated with a network of 30 hospitals in the Delaware Valley. The Division Director will develop clinical pathways, help achieve JHACO stroke certification, and expand systems of care and clinical trials.
Laboratory space and shared equipment are available for those interested in basic science research.
