Job summary

SGMC Health Careers is seeking an experienced RN leader to monitor and support care within the Stroke Program. You will develop and maintain standards, collaborate with physicians and nurses, and provide education and consultation to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

The role requires a Georgia RN license, BSN, and Stroke Certification within 2.5 years, plus current CPR. This Full Time, day-shift position is located at the Main Campus in the Quality Improvement/PT Safety department.

Qualifications

• Active Georgia RN license required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
• Stroke Certification attained within 2.5 years of hire.
• Current CPR certification required.

SCHEDULE :

POSITION SUMMARY

Monitors and supports patient care and promotes optimal patient outcomes. Develops, evaluates, revises standards and policies and procedures for stroke program. Collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to optimize patient outcomes. Serves as resource to resolve issues/problems, and to facilitate staff competency. Provides education and consultation services for care of the stroke patient. Performs/assists with clinical nursing research as appropriate. Collaborates with case coordinators to achieve mutual goals. Maintains responsibility for the development, implementation, and maintenance of the stroke program.

EDUCATION

• Current RN license in the State of Georgia.
• Graduated from an accredited school of nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
• Stroke Certified Registered Nurse certification attained within two and half years.
• Current CPR certification required.

EXPERIENCE

• Preferred Experience: Three years recent acute care clinical experience, two years of acute stroke care clinical experience plus teaching experience in the clinical and/or community setting preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Flexible in work schedule, assignments, workloads, setting priorities and utilizing problem solving techniques.
• Ability to formulate letters, memos, document clinical information create policies and procedures, and provide learning opportunities.
• Ability to analyze regulations, standards, clinical issues, and patient outcomes.
• Excellent verbal, written, and behavioral communication skills.
• Ability to assess learning/training needs of healthcare personnel.
• Ability to conduct educational programs for a wide range of healthcare personnel.
• Ability to plan education programs, based objectives and evaluate the effectiveness of programs.
• Utilize variety of office, educational, clinical, and non-clinical equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS - ADA INFORMATION

Works primarily in hospital setting, including clinical/patient care areas. Considerable walking, standing, stooping, bending, lifting (occasionally in excess of fifty (50) pounds). Mental effort required to assess, plan, and make or recommend decisions in complex environment. Likely to be exposed to blood/body fluids, including infectious diseases. Duties require considerable walking, stooping, standing, bending, pushing, lifting (possibly in excess of 50 lbs.), occasional times of sitting, twisting, and kneeling. Ability to operate medical equipment instruments and office equipment. Require visual and auditory acuity, balance, hand dexterity, mobility of body, and mechanical ability. Physical functional capacity for healthcare workers as defined by the Saunders Method (very heavy).
