Job summary

Valley Baptist Health System in Harlingen is seeking a Nurse Extern II to support med-surg patients in our advanced facilities, including a primary stroke center and long-term acute care unit.

The role collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to provide expanded clinical experience for senior RN students and to assist Registered Nursing staff with patient care planning, implementation, observation, and evaluation, under a 1:1 preceptorship with a Registered Nurse. AHA BLS is required.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited RN program and in senior year.
• Must pass all senior courses to remain in the program.
• AHA BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Registered Nursing staff with patient care activities.
• Participate in patient care planning, implementation, observation, and evaluation.
• Report significant observations to a Registered Nurse.
