Job Title: Mine- Truck Driver

Department: Mining

Reports To: Mining- Stripping Supervisor


Job Summary

The Truck Driver is responsible for operating a truck to move material between plants, warehouses, facilities, docks, or the mine in a safe manner obeying all rules and regulations set forth by the Department of Transportation including maintaining a current valid Georgia Class A Driver’s License.

Job Duties

  • Operate truck in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Performs pre-operational equipment checks and monitors truck performance and gauges during operation.
  • Fuels and performs routine maintenance.
  • Loads truck while staying in compliance with environmental and safety guidelines and regulations
  • Utilizes hand tools to make minor equipment adjustments.
  • Keeps areas clean and free of clutter.
  • Follows all company, state and federal safety policies, rules and regulations rules and regulations.
  • Must be able to read, comprehend, and act on SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), PWI (Process Work Instructions), AIQ processes, and similar documents.
  • Other duties as assigned.
    • Must act in accordance with WE CARE, participates in improvement activities.
    • Operate other heavy equipment utilized at the plant and in the mine after proper, documented training (excavator, tractor, dozers, haul trucks, backhoes, front-end loader, etc.)
    • Other actions as needed to satisfy company goals, process, and procedures to uphold values and inherent to Oil-Dri.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education:
  • Licensure/Certification:
    • Possess at least two years of driving experience.
    • Possess clean DMV record—no points in last three years.
    • Class A Driver’s license. Hazmat certification desirable.
    • Ability to safely operate trucks and heavy equipment.
  • Work Experience:
    • Basic mechanical knowledge.
    • Knowledge of hand tools.
  • Training:
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
    • Ability to operate and control all necessary equipment to perform job functions.
    • Carry/lift 50lbs.
    • Physical endurance to withstand heavy physical labor occasionally required of position.
    • Must be able to function in the required role while wearing appropriate PPE including, but not limited to: Safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, dust mask, protective coveralls, and other as may be required by a hot/cold, dusty, loud industrial environment.
    • Must meet all physical requirements of the position.
Hire Rate: $21.84 No CDL $22.38 with CDL B $23.76 with CDL A
