Job description

Title: Volta Afterschool Music Program – Strings Teacher Hours: Part-time (6-8h/week). Monday-Thursday. 2h teaching per day, 1 paid training and meetings hour. Salary: $50/h (teaching rate); $20/h (virtual trainings and meetings rate) Starting date: July, 2026 Location: Palm Beach County, Broward County, Miami-Dade County

Volta Music Foundation’s mission is to provide students in underserved communities the opportunity to advance their musical careers through a variety of educational programs and talent development opportunities.

Volta Music Foundation Afterschool Program aims to engage Elementary schools’ students in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade Counties through in-person, high-caliber music learning opportunities. All students will participate in weekly group instrumental music classes and receive musical instruments and materials at no cost to them. Students will also be given opportunities to access several performances throughout the year and participate in student recitals and concerts.

The student demographic Volta target are students from low-income families and at-risk youth; most students are from Title I schools where the performing arts have been defunded, thus having little to no resources to bring quality and specialized instruction to their students. Students attending Volta from these schools are from low-income families, and all programs have a high percentage (71.75% on average) of students enrolled from minority groups.

The Substitute Teaching Artist’s primary responsibility is to step into scheduled group lessons and deliver existing curriculum as provided. Substitutes follow lesson plans prepared by the Lead Teaching Artist and are not responsible for curriculum development.

The Substitute Teachers would be working with students K to grade 5 in a group of 10 to 12 students.
