Strings & Orchestra Teacher

The Austin Waldorf School is seeking a warm and enthusiastic strings and orchestra director to teach beginning level 3rd grade strings to advanced 9th-12th high school orchestra. The job description may include teaching other ensembles such as choir, and a music history course as a high school main lesson. This position may also serve as part of our Performing Arts Center management team.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s degree or master's degree in music (music education degree preferred)
2. Waldorf teacher certification/experience or interest in Waldorf education
3. Experience rehearsing student string ensemble and full symphonic orchestra
4. Experience in choral/vocal music
5. Performing Art Center management skills needed
6. Confidence in positive classroom management
7. Excellent written and social communication skills
8. Excellent collaboration skills and a spirit for innovation
