Job summary

Bechtel Corporation in Port Arthur, TX is seeking a journeyman stress relief technician with 4+ years of industrial construction experience. You will troubleshoot stress equipment, read piping isometrics, and assist with tool maintenance and setup on live components.

Duties include basic rigging, pipe lay-out, preparing pipe and pads for preheat and PWHT, and planning work efficiently. You may lift, position, and secure materials, climb ladders, traverse uneven terrain, and must maintain

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in industrial construction as a journeyman stress relief technician.
• Ability to read piping isometric drawings and, preferably, piping and instrument diagrams.
• Proficient in the use of small power tools and basic rigging skills.
• Capable of planning work and reading support drawings; able to assist in lifting and positioning.
• Must climb ladders, traverse uneven terrain, and maintain punctual attendance.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and fix problems with stress equipment on work pieces.
• Able to determine pipe diameter and pads for preheat and PWHT to meet temperatures.
• Read isometric drawings and, preferably, P&ID diagrams.
• Plan work efficiently and perform pipe lay-out.
• Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials during installation.
• Perform tool maintenance and safe travel across uneven terrain.
• Climb ladders and work from heights as required.
• Maintain dependable attendance per project rules.

Job Description:

1. 4 + years of experience in industrial construction as a journeyman stress relief technician.

2. Know the basic stress equipment and recorders.

3. Is capable of troubleshooting and fixing problems that arise from stress equipment to work piece.

4. Possess basic rigging skills.

5. Able to formulate the diameter pipe and pads needed to wrap for preheat and pwht to make specific temperatures.

6. Proficient in the use of small power tools (i.e. die grinder, right angle grinder).

7. Able to read and comprehend piping isometric drawings.

8. Able to read piping & instrument diagrams’ (preferred).

9. Capable of efficiently planning work.

10. Proficient in pipe lay-out.

11. Able to read and comprehend support details / drawings.

12. May assist in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and work pieces during installation.

13. Cleans and performs minor maintenance activities on tools and equipment.

14. Must be able to safely traverse uneven terrain with tools and building materials.

15. Must be able to climb vertical ladders and work from heights as necessary.

16. Must be punctual and maintain a dependable level of attendance in accordance to project work rules.
