Job summary

Rolls-Royce plc in Indianapolis, IN, is seeking a Stress and Lifing Engineer to join our team on a hybrid basis (3 days on site). The role focuses on mechanical integrity, static component analysis, and lifing under thermal, pressure and mechanical loads, using finite element analysis and other numerical tools.

You will work with experienced engineers, perform experiments to validate designs, contribute to root cause analysis, and develop technical documentation for cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 1+ years of experience or Master’s/PhD in Engineering.
  • US citizenship is required for eligibility.
  • Knowledge of stress and lifing analysis and product integrity frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical integrity, stress, and lifing analyses of static components using FEA and numerical models.
  • Assist planning and execution of mechanical experiments to validate designs.
  • Contribute to root cause analysis and solution development.
  • Participate in peer reviews to maintain quality standards.
  • Prepare technical documentation for cross-functional teams.
  • Engage in ongoing training and process improvements.

As an early career analyst, you will support the structural assessment of static components such as casings, bearing supports, frames, mounts, and inlet guide vanes. Working closely with experienced team members, you will apply analytical techniques to evaluate components under complex loading conditions including thermal, pressure, and mechanical stresses.In this role, you will develop your expertise in stress and lifing analysis, gain hands-on experience through supported project work, and continue building your foundation in engineering fundamentals.
