Location: Graham Local School District, GRAHAM HIGH SCHOOL – SAINT PARIS, Ohio.

Job Description

This position involves developing and implementing strength, conditioning, and weight training programs for student-athletes and staff. The coach will maintain the weight room, coordinate with the athletic department, and ensure compliance with school policies and safety regulations.

Supervises

All student-athletes under strength & conditioning and/or weight room supervision, as well as staff and assistants related to the program.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, operate, and manage the weight room facility and supervising staff.
  • Maintain safety and organization of the weight room, locker rooms, and surrounding grounds.
  • Organize and administer all matters pertaining to the weight room and facility.
  • Instruct student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training to achieve individual and team success.
  • Create sport‑specific training programs for individual sports and student-athletes.
  • Provide workout programs to coaching staff in a timely manner and oversee all training programs.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly weight room and keep attendance records.
  • Set and enforce weight‑room rules and regulations and maintain equipment, performing repairs and submitting work orders as needed.
  • Coordinate with the athletic department on equipment maintenance and facility upkeep.
  • Consult on rehabilitation training for injured student-athletes.
  • Enforce the code of conduct and uphold school, athletic, and district policies.
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff to support student growth.
  • Assume responsibility for supervising school‑related duties during student supervision.
  • Ensure student health and safety, monitoring for unusual conditions and referring as appropriate.
  • Participate in district or building committees and parent activities as needed.
  • Conduct conferences with students and/or parents when deemed necessary.
  • Ensure that all supervising individuals have completed required forms and background checks.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, a professional attitude, and model appropriate behavior.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletics Director.
Qualifications
  • Coaching experience and possession of at least one of the following certifications: CSCS, SCCC, USAW Level 1, or Sports Performance Coach.
  • Demonstrated high moral character and integrity, serving as a role model for students and the community.
  • Excellent communication skills with student-athletes, parents, coaches, and school officials.
  • Ability to organize, supervise, and provide direction to weightlifting student-athletes.
  • Thorough understanding of strength training, cardiovascular exercise, and related equipment.
  • Capability to create and modify exercise programs tailored to athletes’ needs.
  • Knowledge of the technical and fundamental aspects of weight training and conditioning.
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and incorporating new ideas relevant to weight training and conditioning.
  • Working knowledge of rules and regulations set by the league, Ohio High School Athletic Association, and Board of Education.
  • Valid licensure and certifications as required by Ohio Department of Education, Ohio High School Athletic Association, and Graham Local School District.
  • Acceptable BCII and FBI reports.
  • Ability to meet all job expectations and objectives.
  • Flexibility to accept alternative qualifications designated by the Superintendent and/or Board of Education.
Additional Working Conditions
  • Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
  • Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions.
  • Occasional interaction with unruly individuals.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling items up to 40 lbs (100 lbs on wheels).
  • Frequent tasks requiring sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing, reading, speaking, reaching, stretching, crouching, kneeling, climbing, and stooping.
  • Travel to meetings and work assignments.
