A. BASIC PURPOSE

Under the supervision of the Boxing Club Program Director, the Strength and Conditioning Coach/Boxing Coach will assist in the training, instruction and supervision of youth and adult participating in the Double Punches Boxing Club Program. A dedicated and result‑driven Strength and Conditioning Coach with expertise in designing and implementing evidence‑based training programs to enhance athletic performance, prevent injuries, and support overall physical development. Experienced in working with athletes across various sports and fitness levels, combining knowledge of exercise physiology, biomechanics, and sports science to maximize individual and team potential. I am skilled in assessing athletic capabilities, tracking progress, and applying progressive overload principles to improve strength, speed, agility, endurance, and mobility. Committed to fostering discipline, motivation, and resilience through personalized coaching and a science‑backed approach to performance training.

B. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Instruct and work with athletes to prepare them for competition.
  2. Model and teach the elements of ROOTS: Respect for Rules, Opponents, Officials, Teammates, and oneself.
  3. Schedule practices for participants.
  4. Prepare about cards/matchmaking.
  5. Drive and accompany boxers to events and tournaments.
  6. Assist with maintenance and cleanliness of gym and equipment.
  7. Provide administrative support to the Boxing Program as required.
  8. Remain up to date on boxing rules and regulations.
  9. Performs additional duties as required.
C. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
1. Education Requirements
  • Minimum High School Graduation or GED with basic understanding of business concepts, grammar, spelling and math activities.
  • Must be independently motivated yet be able to work cooperatively and cordially in a team setting.
  • Licensed through USA Boxing, Inc. on an annual basis.
  • CPR certification and background check required.
  • Expert knowledge of rules, strategies, and techniques of boxing.
  • Knowledge of boxing equipment and its proper use.
  • Knowledge of USA Boxing rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of weight classes and scoring system used during competition.
  • Must be able to complete Salvation Army Drivers and Child Safety Training.
2. Skills
  • The ability to clearly communicate (both verbally and in writing) bilingually (English and Spanish) with and provide supervision for children and adults in a positive manner.
  • The ability to make decisions under pressure and act with maturity and self-confidence.
  • An awareness of the special needs of youth and adults at risk for gang involvement and the ability to help them find a way to re‑direct their energy in positive directions.
3. Physical Requirements
  • To perform this job successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform the essential duties with or without accommodation. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, see and hear; stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee needs to be in good physical condition, able to demonstrate the required disciplines of exercise and boxing.
D. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle.
  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Complete The Salvation Army Vehicle Course Training.
E. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.
  • Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects.
  • Ability to reach overhead.
  • Ability to operate telephone.
  • Ability to lift up to 50-70 lbs. for positions that require lifting.
  • Ability to operate a computer.
  • Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information.
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment and tools: PC, Fax Machine, Telephone, Calculator, Copier, Printer.
  • Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
