Job summary

The Woodlands Township is seeking a Full-time Streetscapes Technician to maintain parks, streetscapes, and related facilities in The Woodlands, TX. This role supports groundskeeping, mowing, edging, and debris removal, with emphasis on safety and proper equipment use.

Under supervision, you will perform routine maintenance, assist with planting, and participate in special events. A high school diploma or GED and a Texas driver’s license are required, with prior related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance for streetscapes, parks, grounds, facilities, and related areas.
  • Operate and refurbish fixtures, signs, equipment as needed.
  • Gather and dispose of debris and vegetation.
  • Operate equipment such as lawn mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, and related tools.
  • May work special events and emergency response as needed.

Summary of Duties

Under the immediate supervision of a Streetscapes Supervisor, Foreman or a Senior Streetscapes Technician perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance and renovation of streetscapes or community grounds, parks and recreation facilities, pathways, landscape, open space reserves, cul-de-sac’s, lakes and ponds, and other duties as assigned. Right-of-Way position will include work related to right of way trash and litter collection.

Essential Employee Responsibilities

During emergency conditions, subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation and are expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform duties in support of development and maintenance of streetscapes, parks, grounds, park facilities e.g., mowing, edging, fertilizing, seeding, pruning, planting, and/ or removing weeds, trees, and shrubs, clearing right-of-way areas and drainage with appropriate equipment.
  • Paint, repair and refurbish fixtures, signs, equipment, and other miscellaneous items as needed.
  • Gather and dispose of debris, wood, trash, limbs, weeds, grass, trees, shrubs, plants, and dead animals.
  • Operate and maintain equipment such as, lawn mowers, sod cutters, chainsaws, tree trimmers and chippers, air compressors, backhoes, farm tractors, forklifts, and other various hand and job-related power tools.
  • Participate in emergency response teams.
  • May be required to work special events on nights, weekends or holidays.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Assist with removal of trees less than 12” diameter.

Education

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Entry level knowledge of concrete, minor carpentry work, and landscape installation and maintenance are a plus.

Experience

One (1) year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience.

Licenses and Certifications

Must possess a Texas driver’s license and meet the driver safety policy requirements.

Safety-Sensitive

This position is a safety sensitive position and is subject to random drug testing.
