Job summary

City of Bixby is seeking a Streets/Storm Sewer Worker to perform skilled and semi-skilled labor in the construction, maintenance, and repair of municipal streets, sidewalks, curbs, and storm sewer systems. The role involves fieldwork under varying weather, operating specialized tools and equipment, and adhering to safety and environmental regulations.

Under general supervision, you will respond to emergencies, work on call at nights, weekends, and holidays, and maintain records of maintenance

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred or ability to obtain within probationary period.
• Experience in street or storm sewer maintenance/construction preferred.
• Ability to read maps, blueprints, and work orders.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain streets, alleys, sidewalks, curbs, and gutters.
• Patch potholes, seal cracks, and apply asphalt or concrete.
• Install and maintain street signs, pavement markings, and traffic control devices.
• Clear snow, ice, and debris from streets and public areas.
• Mowing, trimming and debris removal in City right of way and property.
• Install, inspect, and repair storm sewer pipes, inlets, catch basins, and manholes.
• Set up traffic control devices and follow safety procedures during work operations.
• Clean and flush storm sewer lines to prevent blockages.
• Inspect drainage systems to ensure proper flow and compliance with regulations.
• Respond to flooding or drainage-related service calls.
• Operate trucks, loaders, backhoes, excavators, and other light-to-heavy equipment.
• Use hand tools, pumps, saws, and other specialized equipment.
• Follow OSHA, state, and local safety regulations.
• Work in confined spaces and trenches in accordance with safety procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities.
• Respond to service requests and emergencies in a professional and timely manner.
• Communicate effectively with residents, contractors, and team members.
