Provo City Public Works is looking for a full-time Streets Maintenance Worker to perform equipment operation and manual work in the Streets Maintenance Division repairing and maintaining streets and roads.

What is the compensation?

(G23 - G25) $21.46 - $32.62 per hour (depending upon qualifications)

What are the main duties?

• Patch holes in streets with asphalt.

• Operate road clearance and improvement equipment and perform minor repair and maintenance work on said equipment.

• Operate crack sealing and weed sprayer equipment.

• Maintain dirt road surfaces, shoulders, and parking lot.

• Lay asphalt to specifications with paver.

• Perform traffic safety functions.

• Respond to the public’s needs and assist the public within the general rules of the department.

• Perform the work of lower level Street Maintenance Workers as needed and perform other related duties as required.

What are the minimum qualifications?

• Apprentice Streets Maintenance Worker: 1 year of general equipment operation and/or maintenance experience or other job-related experience.

• Streets Maintenance Worker: 2 years of experience as an Apprentice Streets Maintenance Worker; or 3 years of general equipment operation and/or maintenance experience.

• Sr. Streets Maintenance Worker: A) 2 years of experience as a Streets Maintenance Worker; or 5 years of comparable, job-related experience.

• For all levels, a valid, lawful Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) with endorsement of N – Tanker (at time of appointment).

What is the selection process?

This position is open until filled and will be closed when sufficient, qualified applications to proceed with a competitive selection process have been received (at least seven days). Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.

If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
