Description

STREETS LABORER
Public Works / Streets

Duties: Performs a variety of skilled & semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance, construction & repair of public works, sanitation, utilities, & flood control projects; operates & maintains light to heavy duty equipment, including backhoes, front-end loaders, rollers, & related equipment; uses a variety of hand & power tools; performs concrete & masonry work; patches streets; provides public safety in construction zones in accordance with the MUTCD; removes storm debris; places barricades; removes snow & ice; mows & trims trees, grass, weeds & shrubbery; applies pesticides.

Education: High school diploma or G.E.D.

Experience: One (1) year construction or maintenance work.

Requirements: Must live within 40 minutes response time; must possess a valid Kansas driver’s license.

Work Type:Very heavy, exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Hours: Workweek generally Monday - Friday

Starting pay:$18.97-19.92/hr. DOQ
•Additional $1.50/hour paid for hours worked after 6:00 p.m. & before 6:00 a.m.

Paid Time Off:
•48 hours of vacation available upon hire; additional 48 hours earned during the year (96 hours in first year).
•96 hours of sick leave during first year.
