Job description

Equipment Operator I, Grade 10, $20.34 - $27.44: Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Must obtain a Class A CDL within the first six (6) months of hire.

Equipment Operator II, Grade 12, $22.38 - $31.40: Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Must have at least 2,500 hours or three (3) years of experience in heavy equipment operation. Must possess a Class A CDL, forklift, flagger, and traffic control certifications. Must have 500 hours or equivalent of commercial snowplowing experience and previous sweeper truck operation experience.

Position Reports to: Streets Supervisor

Pay Grade: 10/12

Employment Type: Full-time

Exempt/Nonexempt: Non-exempt

Description: Under the direction of the Streets Field Supervisor, the employee is part of a work crew responsible for street construction, maintenance, cleaning, and snow removal duties.

Duties:

  1. Operates sweeper truck, front-end loader, bobcat, roller, backhoe, forklift, dump, and service trucks, and other motorized equipment as needed.
  2. Works as a crew member, assisting in:
  • Daily sweeping maintenance and operations.
  • Planning and scheduling sweeping routes.
  • Cleaning and maintaining storm drain collection facilities.
  • Spraying, mowing weeds, and cleaning gutters and storm drain inlets.
  • Assists in painting projects, including:
    • Striping roads and parking lots.
    • Painting crosswalks, curbs, no parking zones, and directional arrows.
    • Practicing appropriate safety procedures and traffic control.
    • Installing and maintaining traffic control signs per the Manual on Traffic Control Devices.
  • Works on installation and maintenance of:
    • Streets and roadways.
    • Sidewalks, curbs, and gutters.
    • Storm drain collection facilities.
    • Mowing and shoulder operations.
    • Snow and ice removal.
    • Signs and painting.
  • Assists in flood control measures.
  • Performs emergency assistance as needed.
  • Available for on-call work as scheduled.
  • All other duties as assigned.

    Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds, work outdoors in all weather conditions, and perform physical activities such as standing, bending, stooping, squatting, walking, sitting, and climbing.
