Job summary

City of Akron’s Streets Division seeks a semi-skilled worker to change and assemble street sweeper brooms and to operate heavy equipment for snow and ice control.

You will routinely inspect equipment, perform pre-trip checks, deliver brooms and supplies, and occasionally lead a work crew. The job requires lifting, outdoor work in all weather, and willingness to work overtime or different shifts.

Qualifications

• At least one year of paid semi-skilled labor experience.

Responsibilities

• Change and assemble street sweeper brooms and operate heavy equipment for street cleaning and snow/ice control.
• Routinely inspect and service equipment; perform pre-trip/post-trip forms and related paperwork.
• Lead a work crew when needed and assist with field deliveries of brooms and supplies.
