Job summary

Massive is seeking a Software Engineer to work on Streaming SQL (fireflow) in the USA. You will contribute across the stack—from the SQL parser to query execution—on a disaggregated, scalable streaming engine powering live financial data products.

You’ll design features in Rust, optimize throughput and latency, write design docs, and review peers’ code. A strong systems background and curiosity about databases are essential.

Qualifications

• Strong Rust proficiency and safe, idiomatic code.
• Solid systems programming fundamentals: memory, concurrency, performance.
• Strong grounding in data structures and algorithms.
• Backend experience with database systems, curiosity about how they work.
• Ability to explain why a change is correct, not just that it passes tests.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS or related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and build features across fireflow in Rust, owning them from first design through production
• Profile, benchmark, and optimize for throughput and latency
• Write design docs and RFCs, and review code from the rest of the team
• Test for correctness with deterministic simulation and formal modeling
• Stay up to date with stream processing and bring the best ideas into fireflow
