Job summary

DC News Now in Washington, DC is seeking a Streaming Host/Digital Producer to create audience-first content for our streaming apps and digital platforms. You will lead newsroom storytelling, producing and sharing programs across streaming, social, and linear channels.

Collaborate with broadcast producers, photojournalists, anchors and reporters; drive engagement with SEO and social optimization while upholding journalistic standards.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years experience in streaming and/or digital content production, including on-camera work.
• Excellent organization and time management capabilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Video editing experience.
• Familiarity with OBS and/or vMix a plus.

Responsibilities

• Produce audience-first, engaging content through original programming for the DC News Now streaming apps.
• Support telling the stories of communities throughout the D.C. area through videos, social media posts, live streams, and digital articles.
• Social listening: monitor social chatter and track trending stories via Chartbeat, Google Trends, and our social media platforms; report findings to newsroom.
• Urgently and aggressively report news on streaming and digital platforms as it happens.
• Focus on accuracy and balance in stories and social content through copy editing and training of staff.
• Produce, shoot, and/or edit videos for DC News Now digital and streaming platforms.
• Drive website traffic through SEO and Generative Engine Optimization best practices, website management, app management, push notifications, and application of advanced social media skills.
• Work with all newsroom team members on content coverage, digital-broadcast coordination, and social listening.
• Use digital and social analytics to inform editorial decisions.
• Assist reporters and anchors in the creation of native social content.
• Implement best practices on DC News Now digital, streaming, and social media platforms.
• Ensure newsroom upholds journalistic integrity and the DC News Now brand across platforms.

DC News Now has an exciting opportunity for someone to join us as a Streaming Host/Digital Producer.

The ideal host/digital producer is creative, thriving in a collaborative environment. The person serving in the position will be a leader in the newsroom, developing quality content that follows the highest journalistic standards and provides a rich experience for our community.

We are looking for a storyteller who is plugged into the community and takes an audience-first approach to producing and sharing programs, videos, and other content across streaming, digital, social, and linear platforms. We operate as one content team in our newsroom, which means the host/digital producer will work closely with other content creators including broadcast producers, photojournalists, anchors, and reporters.

Compensation Range: $30 - $33 (hourly) based upon experience
