Job summary

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment's Monitoring, Assessment, and Science Section, part of the Bureau of Water, is seeking an Environmental Specialist Supervisor to serve as the Stream Biology and Fish Tissue Unit Chief. This unit oversees aquatic sampling, biodiversity assessment, and tissue contaminant analysis.

The incumbent will supervise staff, manage data entry to state and federal databases, and participate in annual reporting. Travel of 2–3 days monthly is anticipated.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental, agricultural or natural sciences/resources.
• Two years of experience in the environmental/agricultural sciences field.
• Valid driver's license and ability to operate a state vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Directs stream biological monitoring program operations and QA/QC.
• Oversees field sampling, data interpretation, and reporting.
• Leads staff supervision, scheduling, and annual reporting efforts.
• Supports integration with NPDES, WRAPs, and EPA collaborations.
